ZX Fireboot CD
Hi,
I would like to share with anybody who is interesting in with the ZX FIREBOOT CD.
The objective was to create a small, easy-to-download, CD-bootable ZX distribution,
which could be run on old and new PC's, even without a harddisk.
So , If you have an old 486 PC hidden in your basement,
you can use it as a reborn ZX Spectrum.
A soul matters, not a body.
This bootable CD includes:
1. R80 Spectrum emulator by Raul Gomez Sanchez (freeware)
2. Caldera DR-DOS (GPL Free licence)
3. My collection of 42 best Spectrum games
As far as I know all attached games are free available from www.worldofspectrum.org.
I did not attached the games, which distribution was prohibited by vendors,
according to description on World of Spectrum sites.
The ZX FIREBOOT CD is available here:
http://www.dudziarz.art.pl/zxspectrum
It has only 6 MB, so it should be easy to download.
I hope you will find it useful
Best regards
Pawel

Added ZX-Uno features: Radasoffset and Radaspadding registers, to do hardware scrolling
Added ESXDOS handler so file operations can be done with files stored on your computer hard disk, and not only on virtual mmc/ide files. Examples can be found on extras/media/spectrum/esxdos_handler/. "Classic" mmc/ide emulation by using virtual mmc/ide files can also be used

Improved debugger:
*you can now set conditions for all flags, written as: FS,FZ,FP,FV,FH,FN,FC
*now you can set breakpoints from command line/config file but not enabled by default. You need --enable-breakpoints setting
*now the multitask setting is not lost when a breakpoint is fired
*now you can repeat last command by pressing enter on ZRCP (requires enabling a debug-setting)
Improved QL emulation: experimental support of LBYTES command, added QL root directory selector for mdv1, mdv2, flp1
Improved Sprite Viewer: Save sprite, TBBlue sprite viewer, inverse sprite, set bpp (8,4,2,1), set palette

Kempston emulation broken?
Take an emulator of your choice (I chose Spectaculator and Spin) and load up Gauntlet 3. Choose to control player 1 with 'Kempston' and play the game. Oh dear! The 'Kempston' doesn't actually move the player in the right directions!
Was this a problem with the original game, or is it a problem with the Kempston emulation? I only ask because I tried another game with Kempston emulation a few days back and the left/right controls were reversed in that too. I put that down to a 'dodgy game', but now I'm beginning to wonder. Trouble is... I can't remember what the other game was now!

ZXBaremulator v2.1-VCHIQ beta
Hi & happy new year,
Thanks to the colossal work done by the Circle's library author Rene Stange, we have a feature that, a few months ago, was impossible: HDMI sound.
I'm not fully satisfied with results, but the sound is good 99,9% times. When the PI is HDMI plugged, the sound outputs by the TV set. When is connected to composite video the sound outputs by the 3'5mm video/sound jack.
That's the good news. The not so good news is the PIs A+/B+/Zero are unsupported. The HDMI sound needs many CPU cycles and the ARMv6 based PIs can't cope with so much work.
Remember: it's a beta version, not definitive. The results hardly can be enhanced, so I prefer to release a beta and hear the users.
The image is in Dropbox, and could be used on PI-2/3. kernel7.img
No other features are added.
Best regards

tape creating error in fuse
Hi,
I just discovered a litle error in building a tape in fuse.
if you BREAK the saving at the moment zx is waiting for a keypress, the HEADER is already written.
At least, after breaking a single header is found written on the tape while the saving should be cancelled fully.
something with correct following order, or breaking is a keypress aswell ??? for a 'c loop' that might be equal
i did not yet install v1.5.0 so i should do and perhaps(!!!) find the location my self.

New colour palette for 16K/48K/+ machines, based on ULA YUV voltages
I’ve made a colour palette for 16K/48K/+ machines, based on the YUV voltage tables in Chris Smith’s book The ZX Spectrum ULA.
This colour palette is suitable for ZX Spectrum 16K, ZX Spectrum 48K and ZX Spectrum+ machines, basically machines which use the original Sinclair Ferranti ULA, 5C102E, 5C112E or 6C001E. It is not suitable for 128/+2/+3/+2A machines, as these use a TEA2000 composite video encoder and don’t have the YUV voltages in Chris Smith’s book.
In B R G format:

Emulation Overload!!
So, **** hit fan on various fronts (including real life, which was far more serious than all this online shenanigans) a little while ago and I made the conscious decision to step back detach myself for a while.
Well I tried but I couldn't so decided to throw myself into updating all my emulators and release them all in one go.
So here they are.

Any problems, issues or idea you can contact me here or on the WoS FB page.
I do have ideas for more stuff, including one I saw this morning where someone was looking at Spectrum games with the attributes turned off and finding out the secrets behind the graphics (I think the game was Trapdoor), that sounds intriguing and I'll investigate that.
Anyway, enjoy, play with, complain about or just ignore them!!!

Light gun emulation status?
Hi there,
The 1989 chapter is going to mention the Sinclair Magnum and Cheetah Defender light guns, and I'd like to get some decent footage of a couple of lightgun games.
Do any emulators (that run on PC hardware) emulate either light gun accurately at this time?

ZXBaremulator v3.H(ikoki) Beta
Hi,
Thanks to a Recreated ZX kindly donated by Hikoki, I've added support for it to ZXBaremulator.
Now two keyboards can be connected to the PI, one USB standard keyboard and a Recreated ZX keyboard. The RZX keyboard needs to be configured in "Game" mode (switch in A position). The RZX keyboard will work by himself, but the special keys can't be acessed, so isn't possible to load any game. The logical combination is RZX+standard USB keyb.
The beta version can be downloaded from here: kernel7.img

Thanks to a Recreated ZX kindly donated by Hikoki, I've added support for it to ZXBaremulator.
Now two keyboards can be connected to the PI, one USB standard keyboard and a Recreated ZX keyboard. The RZX keyboard needs to be configured in "Game" mode (switch in A position). The RZX keyboard will work by himself, but the special keys can't be acessed, so isn't possible to load any game. The logical combination is RZX+standard USB keyb.
The beta version can be downloaded from here: kernel7.img

IF2 Rom snapshot creation
Hi,
is it possible convert a Speccy 16k snapshot to a Interface 2 Rom file?
I've the original Ultimate Pssst, Cookie, Trans-am and Jetpac tapes and I would like to make rom files to complete my IF2 rom collection for personal use only (without troubles with copyright laws ).
Thanks in advance!
