Hi,

to celebrate the 35th Spectrum anniversary, I've released the first complete Spectrum 48K bare-metal emulator for Raspberry PI. It's available from here: ZXBaremulator. The instructions about how to use are on Web page (first in spanish, next in english).

It's really easy to use, I guess, but if you have any problem, don't hesitate to ask me.

Best regards
José Luis

I've lost my FUSE to PC keyboard conversion file

Please someone help me. I have lost my laboriously drawn keyboard map showing how to get Spectrum keywords using a PC keyboard with FUSE. I just copied down the built in Spectrum keyboard on Fuse but it doesn't help with the odd combination of key presses needed to get all the various modes. There must be a file or something covering this but where is it?

Can emulators run 'accelerated' like Spectrum Next

$

I saw a video of the Spectrum Next running games in 'accelerated' mode (7Hz) -- Hard Drivin' was one of the examples. This gave a smoother framerate without affecting the music.

I'd like to try this for myself. Is there a setting in Fuse (or any other emulator) that can achieve the same thing?

Cheers!

Just out of Friday's curiosity -- was there a ZX Spectrum emulator for Sinclair QL? Could there be one? Would it make a difference if there was one in 1984?

How do you cut and paste into Fuse?

Trying to emulate the DivIDE on Spin

I have this .iso image that's supposed to be used on a cf card:

ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/gasman/zx/divip_let_forever_be.zip

Since I don't have a DivIDE yet, I thought I would use Spin to test it. I chose the +2 model, checked the box for DivIDE emulation, chose Demfir to be used as firmware, but I don't know how to use the .iso. I see the option to mount hdf images, but not iso images. I really want to see this. :(

edit: I extracted the .iso and mounted the .hdf.

New Win10 update crashes ZXSpin07s :-(

ZXSpin 07s now no longer works on my computer. It just sits in the taskbar as an empty box but when I hover over the empty box it does show me the small "K LIST" icon. Can not exit out of it by pressing the X but can exit it via the task manager.

Just got a new forced Win10 update. It's the only "new" thing on my computer, so I have to assume it's that stupid thing.

Any ideas?

Multiple Simultaneous Keypresses and PC Keyboards

An issue was brought to my attention that a short test program that detects whether the QAOP,space keys are pressed was not behaving as expected.

Each key's state is determined by a direct read of port $XXFE and the result ANDed with a single bit to see if the key is pressed.
I have a test tap here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6XhJJ33xpOWNXFCejdZaUhJZDg/view?usp=sharing

There's no problem with detecting if the keys are pressed individually or in some combinations. However, on my PC, using a variety of windows emulators I get this:

Press in this order: q then a then o. q and a are registered as pressed, o is not.
Press in this order: o then a then q. o and a are registered as pressed, q is not.

This only makes sense to me if this is a limitation in my PC keyboard.

Anyone has any other thoughts or is able to test on a real machine to see if this program does as it should?

BETA-DISC (TR-DOS) support in ZX emulators

BETADISC 128 is original device designed for external use with ZX Spectrum 128/+2(grey). Russians ZX clones (Pentagon, Scorpion, ZX profi, Quorum, ZXM Phoenix, ...) contain internal BETADISC clone on board, but funcionality is same as on ZX128 with BETADISC. Why some emulators enable TR-DOS only in modes Pentagon,Scorpion,.. and disable TR-DOS in modes ZX128/+2 ? Why ? Realspectrum emulator can enable betadisc interface for any ZX model/clone.

Original betadisc use MAGIC button (NMI) for save 128kB snapshot to FDD. But some emulators (REALSPECTRUM, FUSE, ....) support only classic NMI with jump to ZX rom. If betadisc is connect, then NMI button must at adress #66 connect rom with tr-dos and code in dos save 128kB ram to FDD. Specially for this emulators without NMI support I use modified versions of TR-DOS rom and 32kB ZX128 rom (If you wish, I can send you this files by mail).

Support any other FDD system full 128kB snapshot saving/loading to/from FDD ?

Spectaculator - behaving as though z key is held down

$

Anyone else seen this on Win 10? When I start spectaculator, it almost always refuses keyboard input, and if you flip to 48k basic, you get COPY COPY COPY etc at the input prompt. If I kill it and reload the application, I sometimes get keyboard control back, but after a while it locks down the Z key again.

No other program is behaving like the Z key is held down, and I'm pretty sure there's only one keyboard on it!

Bit baffled by this. Has some new Windows update caused some weirdness for spectaculator 8.0.0.3092? Downloading fresh and doing a repair install doesn't seem to help.

Anyone else seeing this?

I am forever getting stuck in a program with no STOP option, usually mine that I forgot to put that option into and ran a test forgetting the consequences. Is there a keystroke combination that will let me BREAK into a program?
